Who makes Infiniti cars? As the competitor of Honda Acura and Toyota Lexus, check out the short history of this brand created by Nissan Motor Company.
Who makes Infiniti cars? Nissan, or Nissan Motor Company, is the figure behind this brand. To be exact, Nissan Motor Company started with this manufacture in late 1989. November 8 was also the birth year of the 1990 model. Honda Acura and Toyota Lexus are two of Infiniti’s strong competitors in the automobile world.
Infiniti comes as a coupe, sedan, or a sports utility vehicle. This brand’s European debut started in the middle of 2008, in hopes that it would gain recognition and consideration as a luxury car brand there.
The History and The Slow Transition of Infiniti
Infiniti started slowly in the market, especially with strong competitors like Honda Acura and Toyota Lexus. Due to its lackluster marketing campaign, Infiniti did not rise up to its name.
It found its groove in the early 1990s. With a 278-horsepower V-8, Infiniti started gaining recognition. It was compared to the best German imported cars, thanks to its power.
From there, Infiniti made its way back into competition. It rivaled other cars, like Mercedez-Benz, Audi, and BMW in the US market. In such a short time, Infiniti had also beaten Lincoln and Cadillac in the sales.
Infiniti Q4: The SUV That Became A Champion
Nissan released the SUV version of Infiniti in the middle of 1997. As a sports utility vehicle, Infiniti QX4 was the SUV that beat Mercedez-Benz in the market. This SUV had also beaten Nissan’s two strong competitors, Honda Acura and Toyota Lexus.
The Financial Trouble In The Middle
Unfortunately, Nissan Motor Company suffered financial trouble in 2000. Because of this, Infiniti failed to keep up with its name and was pushed aside by Acura and Lexus in the competition between vehicle brands. After QX4, it seemed that Infiniti could not come up with other more inspiring models.
Infiniti G35: The Revival
In 2003, Nissan Motor Company decided to revive Infiniti by returning to its basic, original concept. With a personal, sporty look, Infiniti G35 managed to revive its strength as a competitor in the automobile industry.
The Future Plan of Nissan Infiniti
In January 2018, HirotoSaikawa, the chief executive of Nissan, announced the would-be transformation of Infinity as an electric car. In fact, the long term for this brand includes creating electric or/and hybrid cars by the year 2021.
