Wallace has also become the first driver who successfully ranged over the 300 mph limit in a sports car. Bugatti’s competitors had been talking much about achieving 300+, but the French car manufacturer simply proved it at the Ehra-Lessien testing track, Germany.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ that has broken the record is enhanced with a 1,600 horse-powered engine and is such an advanced upgrade of the regular Chiron cars. Andy Wallace also claimed that the car could even go faster than that despite Bugatti’s decision to stop focusing on speed records instead.
Hennessey Venom F5 (301mph)
Still on the question of what is the fastest car in the world, Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ is apparently not the only one. Hennessey Venom F5 has become the world’s second-fastest car reaching its top speed of 301mph.
Using a carbon fiber chassis, Hennessey Venom F5 is also equipped with a double-turbo charged V8 that is good for its 1,600 horse-powered machines. That’s a small wonder that this sports car has become one of the fastest cars in the world.
Even though Hennessey has not validated its claims on crossing the 300 mph threshold, the Venom F5 will speed up to 249mph in only 30 seconds. That’s a speed of a regular sports car that can reach from 0 to 100mph.
SSC Tuatara (300mph)
Shelby SuperCars (SSC) Tuatara has all the right to claim itself as one of the world’s fastest cars as well. Its predecessor, the SSC Ultimate Aero had also dashed at the top speed of 256mph back in 2007. Today, Tuatara has proven it is much better than that.
Enhanced with 5.9 liters supercharged V8 and 1,350hp on 91-octane gasoline, SSC Tuatara aimed for 300+, and it proved it did. The 2,750 pound-weighed car also claimed that it is aerodynamically lighter than its competitors like Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, Hennessey Venom F5, and Koenigsegg Agera.
