Your car run on gas, so you might think it is normal if you can small gas once in a while. Check Your Gas Cap

The first thing you need to check when you smell gas is the gas cap. Check the cap carefully, especially after you open the gas tank. Make sure that your gas cap does not loose and always in good condition. A loose cap can be dangerous because it can make your gas leaks and release gas fumes.
Possible Gas Exposure

The less dangerous cause is gas exposure to your car. Sometimes the fumes from the gas station can get into your car and make it smell like gas all day. It is easy to fix this as you only need to open wide the windows and drive around for a few minutes. The smell will immediately go and doesn’t come back. But when it does, it is probably because of other reasons.
Gas Leaks

Another possible cause of this problem is gas leaks, especially if you can smell it when you are parking. Check underneath the car for black puddles. If you can find it, then you indeed have a gas leak in your car. There are several causes for gas leaks, such as worn-out or punctured fuel tanks, broken down injectors, or loose fuel-injection.
Broken Canister

Your car has a plastic component functioned to catch charcoal and collect excess vapor from the fuel tank that is called the canister. Over time, the canister may be worn out or damaged, which causes the gas smell in your car.
Fuel Pressure

The last one is a problem with fuel pressure. A failed fuel pressure may cause fumes inside the exhaust and sometimes can get into your car through the ventilation system. That is why you will smell the gas fumes from inside your car. Another sign of fuel pressure is weak power and fuel efficiency.
